Gaz de France Paris Saint-Denis Meeting
Stade de France - July the 18th 2008

Technical Conference : "Stepping up a gear"
Hosted by Jean-Claude PERRIN

As it has been the case for the past 3 years, the organisers of the Meeting Gaz de France Paris Saint-Denis will be playing host to another technical conference during the Meeting. The growing success of the event is encouraging Jean-Claude Perrin – host and organiser of the conference – to look at the best there is in the athletics world as regards coaches, techniques, new technologies, etc. In this Olympic year where the 100m is king, the theme which stands out is speed…

Like every year, this international meeting is offered to French and overseas coaches. In 2006 the women’s pole vault took pride of place, and in 2007 it was the 110m hurdles.

This year the conference will cover the broader theme of speed and will be split into two sections:

- The first part will tackle the various physical, technical, biomechanical and physiological aspects of speed and the different factors linked to training

- The second part will deal with the use of speed in the activities themselves, in association notably with tennis, rugby and football federations

This conference is aimed at all athletics coaches as well as being open to any coach who is enthusiastic about his or her discipline and is constantly seeking further improvement or new techniques, which their athletes might benefit from. Open to the press as well as keen observers, this conference is supported by the French Athletics Federation (FFA) via its National Technical Director Franck Chevallier. To host this conference Jean-Claude Perrin will be assisted by Gérard Lacroix, Philippe Leynier and Gilles Follereau.

For this year only the conference will benefit from the presence of some of the crowning glories of world athletics, who will be putting in guest appearances within the framework of the celebratio ns for the 10th anniversary of the meeting.
